Audience feedback

Here is a questionnaire I wrote to get feedback of my magazine, I wrote these questions to help me get an understanding to wether my audience liked or didn't like my magazine. It will also help me to write my evaluation as I can include answers of what the respondents gave me.
  • On a scale of 1-10 (10 been the best) how does the magazine generally appeal to you and why?
  • Do you believe I have used a consistent format throughout the magazine such as colour schemes and font style?
  • Do you believe that if the magazine was placed on a shelf in a newsagents/supermarket, you would be drawn in to buying it? If so what would make you buy it? (colours, headlines, pictures, competitions e.t.c.)
  • Do you believe the price of the magazine is reasonable if not why not?
  • My magazine is published fortnightly do you believe this is to often or not as frequent as it should be?
  • Would you believe the magazine is aimed at the target audience it is supposed to (aged15-24)?
  • If you could improve the magazine in any way, what would it be and why?

Questions to answer for my evaluation

For my music magazine evaluation I have to respond to the following questions:
  • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  • How does your media product represent particular social groups?
  • What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
  • Who would be the audience for your media product?
  • How did you attract/address your audience?
  • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  • Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Final pieces of magazine

Here are the final pieces of my magazine. I have now produced my front cover, contents page, and double page spread.

Final copy of double page spread

Here is my final copy of my double page spread, from the previous copy I have made sure that all of the spelling is correct and I have tilted the bands name so that it doesn't look plain and boring and gives the magazine a bit of an edge.

Fourth draft of double page spread

Here is my fourth draft of my double page spread. I have made the title bigger so it is more eyecatching to the reader when they open the page. I am now going to make sure that all of the article is spelt correctly.

Third draft of double page spread

I have now created my third draft of my contents page. I have now changed the colour of the right hand page so that it blends with the background of the left hand page. I have also changed the headline and the bands name around with one another. I then decided that the headline looked to plain and boring been black and white so I changed the quotation marks pink to make it stand out further. Underneath the headline I wrote a caption summarising what the article is based upon. I then added my page number on to the magazine and the puff I had created to promote the selling of the new album.

Second draft of double page spread

Here I have placed in the title of the band but I am going to enlarge this and change it to make it stand out more. I have also placed a black banner above theb writing to space it out from the name of the band above. I have also placed my article onto the right hand page and the colour pink represents the questions and the colour black represents the response from each member. I am going to improve my next version by changing the style of writing so it is more clearer to read and also add in my page number and puff I previously created.

First draft of my double page spread

Here is the first draft of my double page spread. I have placed on one side of the page an image of who the article is based on. As my image was a landscape shot, I had difficulty making the image realistic without making the artists look stretched. I then decided to crop part of the left hand image and move the image slightly to the right to make the picture seem realistic. I have then placed a quote that is going to be in my article above the artists head. I have used the same stroke style I have used on both my front cover and contents page. I have chosen to use this particular quote as it stands out off the page and hits you. I have left the other page blank as this is where my article is going to be placed, I have although changed it to the same background colour as my contents page. To improve this version I am going to begin writing my article onto the right hand side of the page.

Final Front Cover

I have now finished my front cover. I have now chosen a different stroke around the bands name on the main headline, which is similar to the masthead's stroke. I have also decreased the size of the price of the magazine and moved it in line with the barcode. I have also placed how often the magazine is published in line with the magazines website address so that it follows in line with it.

Puff created for double page spread

Here I have created a CD front cover to appear on my double page spread. As the article I have produced is based upon the release of the duos album, I have decided to create a puff to advertise the CD. This is a feature that I have commonly seen in magazines, as a way of promotion.

Improved version of front cover

I believe I have now finished the front cover of my magazine. Here I have added another strapline to show more content of what is to be expected in the magazine. I have also changed the main headline so it fits around the main image, rather than across it. I have also moved the website address and price to the top of the page.

Improved version of article for double page spread

Here I have added more questions, and give more realistic responses to the questions. I have also added more so that the length of my article is improved, though I may need to write more questions.

Friday 4 March 2011

Improved version of front cover

Here i have improved the version of my front cover. I have added straplines on the side of the magazine, and took away the quote from the article. This is because I am going to enlarge the quote on my double page spread. I have also added these straplines because it also shows other items that are inside, attracting the audience to buy the magazine.

Final copy of my contents page

This is my final version of my contents page. I have now finished the regulars column by adding more headlines. I have decided not to give the background a colour as I believe by using the pale colour the text stands out from it.

Wednesday 2 March 2011

Fifth draft of contents page

Here is the draft of my fifth contents page. I have finished the column about news and features, by heading them with a bold page number. I have began writing a new column which will contain items that are included within the magazine in every issue. I have also added around the page number in the image a stroke, the colour I have chosen is the colour of the t-shirt of the band member, showing that I am using the same colours. To improve this copy I am going to finish the regulars column and also add a puff, which was advertised on the front cover of my magazine.

Draft of article for double page spread

Here is the first draft for my article, which will appear on my double page spread. Here I have written part of the interview but these questions will be improved upon and more questions will be added to make the interview better. When applying the interview to my double page spread I will be changing the size and font of the text as well as the colour. This will be done to keep in contrast of the rest of my magazine.
